Care
Quartz will scratch Lapis
Clear Quartz is 7 on the Mohs scale and Lapis Lazuli only 5–5.5, so store them apart. Lapis is a composite rock with calcite: keep it away from acids and soaking, and use a dry cloth. Some Lapis is dyed or wax-treated, and dyed blue jasper is sometimes sold as "Swiss lapis." Clear Quartz can also be glass, so ask if natural matters.

Can I store them together?
It's better not to. Clear Quartz is harder than Lapis Lazuli and will scratch it. Give each its own pouch.
Can Lapis Lazuli get wet?
Only very briefly. Its calcite is sensitive to acids and soaking, so a dry soft cloth is the safer routine.
Is my Lapis Lazuli natural?
It might be treated. Some Lapis is dyed or wax-stabilized, and dyed blue jasper is sometimes sold as "Swiss lapis." Natural Lapis shows deep blue with white calcite and gold pyrite flecks.
